Using the Fireplace
Please follow these steps to use and enjoy the fireplace:
We have left the flue open, so you don’t need to do anything to it. However, it is important to know how to open and close the flue. The flue can be opened by sliding the metal tab all the way to the left or closed by sliding the metal tab all the way to the right.
Please follow these steps for using the gas starter:
1. Arrange the logs on the fireplace grate.
2. Put your hand on the gas key located to the right of the fireplace, but don’t turn on the gas yet.
3. Light the long lighter located in the bucket to the left of the fireplace.
4. Turn the gas key a quarter turn to the left.
5. Immediately light the gas starter pipe by placing the lighter flame directly in front of one of the holes of the gas starter pipe. If it doesn’t light within a few seconds, shut off the gas and try again after letting a few minutes pass.
6. Open the gas key valve further until the flames are making contact with the logs in the fireplace.
7. Let the gas starter run for no more than 15 minutes and shut off the gas once your logs have caught on fire and are hot enough to keep the fire going without gas assistance.
If you need to dispose of ash, please make sure it is completely cool and then place in black steel bin to the right of the fireplace. We will provide a starter amount of firewood, but you may wish to bring your own supply (or you can buy some at the local markets).
